The Crayfish Trail has become known as a truly Unique “Slackpacking” Experience not to be missed when undertaking a visit to the beautiful Cape West Coast.
If you love the idea of exploring unspoilt stretches of coastline and pioneering new trails, but hate the thought of carrying a crippling load on your back, then slackpacking is for you.
The stretch of coastline between the Berg and Olifants Rivers offers superb hiking opportunities which the Crayfish Trail takes full advantage of. There are a number of different routes from which to choose, including a Six Day Trail and a choice of Three Day Trails.
The Crayfish Trail operates all year and with each season brings with it a new vision of beauty which only the West Coast can offer.
Guests have the option of either the full Five Day Trail (5 nights), the Two Day Trail (2 nights) or to Tailor-make their trail (between 1-5 nights). All options include accommodation, all meals, a local guide, transport of luggage and daily activities. The trail is suitable for anyone with a moderate level of fitness and for children over 12 years of age. The terrain is mostly flat and walked on rough paths, jeep tracks, board walks, beaches and single track.
This trail is aimed at empowering local individuals from coastal communities including Elandsbaai, Lambertsbaai and Doringbaai. It is no secret that the West Coast is a beautiful landscape, with tourism holding great opportunity for all. The trail is led by local guides who give guests on the trail a unique insight into the culture and history of the area. Guests are treated to the local cuisine prepared by local people, which really is ‘lekker’.
Cost will depend on the size of the group and number of days.
