Citrusdal is situated between the magnificent Kouebokkeveld and Swartberg Mountains, and is most certainly one of the most beautiful sights that a trip to the West Coast has to offer. Rocherpan Nature Reserve lies 25 km north of Velddrif on the Cape west coast, and comprises 914 ha. The reserve, which was established in 1967, consists largely of a seasonal vlei which is usually dry between March and June. The adjacent section of the Atlantic Ocean was declared a marine reserve in 1988.
This picturesque fishing village is where the mighty Berg River finds its way into the ocean. Birders and fishing hotspot, Veldrif offers ideal family fun for a day trip. Renowned for Bokkoms (salted and sundried harders), enjoy boating, sailing fabulous little art and antique shops as well as studios, restaurants and interesting eateries along the banks of the river.
